No reception area-- This is to be a common area for people to stand/sit and talk ( the workshop sign-in will be with a person on an iPad - they will not have a desk )
*** Bathroom should be gender-neutral, located from entry area accessible by all rooms ( this needs design work still )
*** change full kitchen will have no door or a sliding door
***STUDIO/ apartment WITH BATHROOM is to be located on the North Wall, where the current exit door and window face street.
***The entrance to be on the parking lot side. Entrance to open to a common area, all rooms to be accessed from the common area.
***there are several steel columns within the building, these are to be wrapped in wood or drywall and painted
*** Where possible and aesthetically pleasing try to use the block wall of the building ( the building was built in 1930 and the blocks are smaller than the cinder blocks used today and have character). +++ ACTUAL PHOTOS OF WALL TODAY WILL BE POSTED
For new wall construction, I am open to wood, drywall, faux brick or polycarbonate depending on aesthetic.
Feeling loving, open, warm, welcoming
Final round: in this brief, you will find the layout of the rooms, I am open to changing their size but not their location.
The common area: should is for sitting and standing for guests ( the check-in person will be on an iPad ) nice to have: I envision the common area promoting people sitting and standing in front of one another ( perhaps the walls are slightly curved almost pushing people in towards one another with seating on the wall and facing the wall)
Exterior: entrance to be shaded with a wood slot patio type cover this will extend from entrance to end of building in front of large studio space approx 25' x 15' ( the use of plants and outdoor seating would be nice )
