Dark Moon is the story of criminal defense attorney Sarah Knight who is appointed to defend Alexa Reed, daughter-in-law of United States Supreme Court justice, Coleman Reed. Alexa is accused of killing her ex-husband, Micheal Reed, and psychologist Ronald Brigman. Brigman gave fully custody of Alexa's two young children to Michael just days before the murders. Alexa's cell phone places her at the scene of crimes, yet she insists she is innocent and that she was the victim of Michael's repeated acts of domestic violence although there is no evidence to support her claims. The legal community unites against Sarah to work to convict Alexa, innocent or guilty.
The significance of the title, "Dark Moon," is because there are many secrets that the major characters are hiding that are revealed as the plot unfolds.
I have attached some stock photos of the moon at night emerging from clouds which I think illustrates the concept of hidden secrets. I have also attached stock photos of women in silhouette either running from danger or walking away. There is one of a woman behind bars, representing Alexa's plight. I have also attached one photo of the U.S. Supreme Court building at night that conveys the odds Sarah is up against.
I am open to any an all ideas. I want something that gives a feel of danger and mystery. I don't know if it is too much to combine the image of the U.S. Supreme Court building with the dark moon in the back ground and a woman in silhouette. That might be a starting place. I need something that conveys the idea that the book is a legal thriller. A scales of justice might also work instead of the U.S. Supreme Court building.
If you want to get an idea of designs I have chosen in the past, my first novel is Dance For a Dead Princess and you can find it on Amazon. My second novel is Ride Your Heart 'Til It Breaks and you can find that on Amazon, too. Both covers were picked from contests on 99 Designs and I think both are outstanding.
