"Dopamine", an upcoming technothriller novel, needs a book cover.
The story prominently features real contemporary state-of-the-art portrayals of computer hacking, biotechnology, genetic engineering, neuroscience, and so on. It is directly inspired by classic cyberpunk like "Neuromancer" or "Snow Crash", and is written in the "present-day science fiction" style of Michael Crichton, Dean Koontz, or James Rollins.
The novel's official website can be found at http://dopaminenovel.com/ . There, you will find a plot synopsis. The full text is currently available online there as well under "Read the full story", but obviously it's not necessary to read the book in order to design a cover for it.
The book will be released to Kindle first, with a possible subsequent print version slated for later release depending on Kindle performance. Naturally, an attractive Kindle cover is critical to the book's commercial success.
Author: Mikhail Voloshin
Tagline (optional): Many book covers feature additional text to offset the title. If you wish to incorporate such text, use the tagline, "Nerds behaving badly." This may be subject to change; once a few top designs are selected, I'll probably just crowdsource the exact tagline/blurb text anyway.
Dimensions: The primary target platform for this contest will be the Amazon Kindle. Kindle guidelines recommend a height:width ratio of 1.6 (https://kdp.amazon.com/help?topicId…TRG6OPX0VM). Entries should have a pixel resolution of somewhere between 1562x2500 and 6250x10000. Non-Kindle treatments, such as a back cover or jacket leafs, are certainly nice to have, but making sure it looks good as a Kindle cover is this project's top priority.
With the contest now in progress, I feel it's necessary to add this:
Any designs incorporating the distinctive vertical cascading green text from "The Matrix" will be summarily eliminated. This is not for personal or stylistic reasons, but simple legal ones.
