We're two authors in the business, self-help and travel niches who are joining hands for a new non-fiction book.

Requirement: book cover (front, spine and back) suitable for CreateSpace 5" x 8". Please note that we're in the process of writing and that we may ask you to adapt the spine width after completing this project. Type: Non-fiction Title: DIGITAL NOMADS Subtitle: How to Live, Work and Play Around the World Authors: Esther Jacobs & André Gussekloo Digital nomads are people who explore the limits of remote work. Probably you, as a (book cover) designer, are also able to work from anywhere. Now imagine yourself getting on a plane and doing your work from a tropical beach, in a trendy cafe in your favorite metropolis or a mountain cabin in the snow. The possibilities are endless and this book is about those possibilities. We would like a cover where red and/or yellow are the dominating colors (most other books on this topic feature blue-ish colors and we want it to stand out. Also red and yellow are happy covers and we want the book to have a happy energy). The title DIGITAL NOMADS should be in a large capitalized font on one or two lines (we leave this up to you), occupying roughly the top quarter/third of the cover. The middle part is where a powerful photo, illustration or vector should go. This is where we hope you can get us unstuck. We’ve thought of the typical guy-with-a-laptop-in-a-hammock, but it’s just too cliché and limiting. After all, digital nomads can also choose to work in cities. Then we thought of somehow combining the beach and the city (a hammock strung between a palmtree and a skyscraper), but it seems hard to combine those two elements on a cover that will have to make sense in a thumbnail format on a site like Amazon. Basically, the cover should evoke feelings of adventure, excitement, travel, freedom and cosmopolitanism. We trust on your expertise to translate that into a suitable, powerful and original image. Under this illustration or photo will be the subtitle of the book: How to live, work and play around the world. At the very bottom of the cover the two author names: Esther Jacobs & André Gussekloo The back part of the cover should contain our two photos (included in this brief). Please let us know if you need a better resolution. Round author photos may be a nice idea, but feel free to experiment. We will deliver the back cover content at a later stage. For now, you can use a 200 word dummy text.
Please note that this book is a work in progress. The spine width is not known yet. The text for the back of the cover will be delivered as soon as possible. Feel free to capitalize words where you think it will look better. Also, we may require minor changes to the winning design.
