What is LOT Network?
LOT Network is an international community of companies that are working together to stop the problem of patent trolls. Patent trolls are bad companies that buy patents and sue companies. Last year patent trolls cost companies $29 billion dollars.
John Oliver (HBO) can give you a funny overview of the problem. Please see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bxcc3SM_KA (10 minutes it’s funny and educational)
LOT is a group of companies (including Uber, Dropbox, Canon, Ford, Mazda, JP Morgan Chase, Wiki SolarCity, Google, etc.) that pledge to license each other to any patents before they sell them. This way, trolls can’t buy patents to sue the companies in the membership.
So as each company joins, the patent troll problem gets better. Each new company that joins is like a brick in a wall that protects the community from trolls. Like a wall or a moat.
LOT is a non-profit. We are a trade association of these member companies. We are a community of trust. Companies of all industries across the world are allowed to join and pledge the same. Joining LOT is what “Good Corporate Citizens do.” We are the good guys. We are taking the high road. Our member companies want to focus on customers and making good products. As each company joins, there is a network effect because each company brings its small set of patents, but gets the benefit of everyone else’s patents in the network. We are the defenders taking down patent trolls. We are proactively solving a problems for the good of customers.
Please keep in mind that the audience for this logo is not the average consumer. This is not a consumer product. The target audience is the CEO, CFO, and head lawyers of ever company in the world. The logo needs to project executive prestige and professionalism, particularly in the Legal community. It needs to be receptive to the Asian community. Asian companies should be proud to join LOT and want to proudly display our Logo on their websites. Keep in mind that patents normally have the reputation of intellect, creativity, and invention.
The logo should not look like current logo. The new logo should suggest community.
