Here's the way I describe my vision/my aesthetic in a few words: Classic, updated traditional with a modern, California twist.
Colors - My favorite shades are blue (right now I'm into deep navy,/indigo, almost black. I also love white and black and gray and linen and the way neutrals can work together with textures.
I love a good juxtaposition blending old and new like an old house with character such as moulding and wainscoting, married with more clean and modern furnishings.
I will usually choose the country over the city, but I don't like overly "country" designs. I like more "modern farmhouse" than "rustic farmhouse". I like the city when I can stay in nice hotels (so I can critique the interiors of course) and marvel at great architecture and cool restaurant decor.
I love photography, architecture and modern art, but also a good landscape once in a while.
Please, I'm looking for something modern, nothing too frilly, but not too serious and sterile either, mature, but not "old".
There are a lot of players in this category. I love simple black and white, but I also need to stand out from the crowd and define my spot within this industry where aesthetics is everything. Some other interior brands I admire:
Studio McGee, Park & Oak, Amber Interiors, Serena & Lily, Earnest Home Co., Juniper Studios. I have more, but this is a good start.
