iKnowPeople
This app aids people in building their real-world social networks by keeping track of the people they meet, and what they learn about them, in an organized database. (It can help you remember your boss' wife's name, that your date hates asparagus, and the names of those people you met at that party that time.)
Please visit http://www.fairoakslabs.com/iknowpeople for an overview of the application.
Our app targets three sorts of people:
1.) The average guy who would like to stay in better touch with his friends.
2.) The sort of person who goes to "networking events" that don't involve cat-5 cable.
3.) The small businessman looking for a simple and cost-effective CRM solution.
In terms of design, we want an icon that:
1.) Is beautiful to look at
2.) Appears trustworthy
3.) Is not a cartoon
Within those constraints, you're free to do what you think best.
Technically, the requirements are a little tighter. We need the icon done in two sizes:
512px x 512px
72 ppi, RGB, flattened, no transparency
High quality JPEG or TIFF image
57px x 57px
72 ppi, RGB, flattened, no transparency
24 bit PNG image file format
And you'll have to decide whether to use the iPhone's built-in "shine" or not; the attached "Shine_Notes.pdf" document explains how this effect works. It's probably simpler if you don't use this effect (in terms of judging how your proposal looks) but it's your call.
