New band needs logo for use on website, T-shirts, badges, promotional material etc.
Fakesensations
Fakesensations is a UK artist in need of a striking logo. Needs to reflect the Fakesensations sound so please check out the artist's music at myspace.com/fakesensations.
The sound aims for a particularly English (and I mean UK/British here, just to clarify for US readers) tone, matched with electronica/hip hop influences (think Beck, Beta Band, Saint Etienne) and the logo should reflect this.
Logo needs to look timelessly English (UK), and could evoke the past - 19th century, 17th century, or whatever era you think is most interesting design-wise, but must definitely evoke a particularly English past. While we're after something located in the past/retro, it can't be cliched or stereotyped, and it needs to retain a contemporary edge.
This also needs to be simple enough to work on t-shirts and merchandise, and in black and white.
It's a long word unfortunately, so the design needs to ensure that the word is readable. Play with the lettering all you like, whether is Fakesensations, FakeSensations, fakesensations or other variations - we're open to everything as long as the word is readable and looks good.
UPDATE: I am open to anyone trying to abbreviate it ("FS" etc) as long as the full name is incorporated somewhere, and is readable. At themoment the submitted entries are looking quite corporate - everyone please bearin mind that this is a band logo and should be able to compete withmore famous contemporary band logos. And also, when I say evokeEnglishness, I don't mean just stick the Union Jack above the name ;) Iwant evoke a particular Englishness the way Dylan evokes a particularAmericana - think Victorian posters, the London Underground logo,Charles Rennie Mackintosh (yes i know he's Scottish...) etc.
UPDATE 2: i picked the Mrs Eaves font on my website because i really liked this image:
maybe that's something you can work with. I'm also a big fan of Gary Hume's work, for example:
hope this helps a little. again, think englishness: Britishpsychedelia (Sgt Pepper cartoon) and pop art (Peter Blake), oldVictorian posters (http://tinyurl.com/6zbb97), etc.
