BioShape Solutions is a medical device startup based in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. We're making a variety of simple and elegant medical devices that attach to medical implants like fracture plates and rods for spinal surgery. The "clips" (tradenames will be Orthoclip(TM) and Spineclip(TM) to start with) attach to the device and then allow for local delivery of a therapeutic agent like an antibiotic (to treat infection), an analgesic (for pain and inflammation) or a growth factor (to enhance healing). We're looking for branding that will balance a bit of playfulness and innovative thinking with solid medical and therapeutic benefits. The products are simple and elegant, yet innovative and powerful solutions to major clinical problems. The logo should be likewise a balance of these aspects.

As a start-up, our logo really serves two audiences - one audience is our end customers, the orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons that will be our initial users. Our other purpose is to convey novelty and innovation to the investment community and the public in general. It can be a challenge to bridge the need to stand out for innovation, creativity and novelty with the need for dependability, therapeutic benefit and scientific foundation. That's where you, esteemed designer, come in. We're sure you're up to the challenge and look forward to your proposals.
We desire a logo that can be used for initial branding of the BioShape Solutions venture. We'll be using this logo on our business cards, website and early investor presentations. The focus is on the "BioShape" with the "Solutions" portion of secondary importance. We know we'll often refer to the organization simply as Bioshape. As noted above, the logo needs to strike a balance between the playful and innovative combined with the medical and scientific. We're open to a range of color proposals and graphic elements.
