Camp Utopia Yoga
Camp Utopia is a teacher training program for professional yoga teachers. I've created a comprehensive "Yoga Alliance" recognized training program, including workshops and retreats. It's yoga - so my logo has to have that essential yoga feel, but it also "camp" - fun, friendship, laughter, bonding - and my training is modern - "I am not your guru" is my mantra - I teach from a practical, modern perspective with a focus on teaching excellence and market awareness. I'm more interested in helping new teachers figure out how to make a living and at the same time not be out there injuring people and not so focused on whether or not they can pronounce the sanskrit words perfectly and recite the bhagavad gita off by heart.
Primarily existing yoga instructors looking for advanced skills - they are going to be intelligent, hard working, cutting edge people, mostly female, age 26 - 54. They've been teaching for a while, see themselves as pretty spiritual and devoted, but struggle to make a decent living. My secondary audience will skew a little younger, also mostly female, and they will be more fitness oriented than spiritual. The spiritual side will be an aspect, but they are more like yoga - jocks. They enjoy a powerful, fitness based yoga practice, and they want a job that is fun, "easy" / "hot" and portable. There may be people from both these groups with alternate healing skills like massage therapy, pilates, personal training, and so on, looking to continue to advance their opportunities, but all these groups are going to want a company that they can take seriously before dropping a couple of grand on tuition, so the logo has to reflect that too.
I need a logo that will go on my website, facebook page, teacher training manuals, and possibly t shirts, bumper stickers, and tote bags. I think cheerful "sun lit" colors like summer grass, wildflowers, and bright blue skies will be most appropriate. Tone is going to be joyful, tangible pleasures that come with a great "camp" experience - you learn a lot, get lots of exercise, make great friends and lifelong memories. It has to retain some childhood magic but not be childish. Think bare feet in dewy grass or looking up through a canopy of sun lit leaves, days filled with sports and adventure, stories and songs by the campfire at night....Whimisical.
If you intend to include yoga imagery, an elephant (ganesha) is a possibility, but I don't want the cliché stuff - no OM symbol, no lotus blossom.
New insights: no extreme yoga poses - good poses for me are half moon pose, warriors and triangles, goddess, gate, camel, side plank - but that doesn't mean I am asking for a yoga pose to be present, or central to the design. It helps identify the product for sure, but I'll be looking for a really creative way of using it.
Also, favorite colors for me are greens, blues, purples, yellows. I love reds, but in a yoga context they suggest to me a heated studio.
