Givability
I am becoming a serial entrepreneur! I started my first company, uShip.com, 6 years ago with 2 friends from business school. uShip has been an amazing experience, but I am ready to get my hands dirty again. I am starting Givability so that I can pursue my true passion -- philanthropy. Similar in some ways to DonorsChoose.org and GlobalGiving.org. Givability will be the first truly open marketplace for micro-philanthropy. I want to create something that will have a real impact on the lives of others - do you want to help out?
Givability is an online marketplace for micro-philanthropy. Our market is people who may never have participated in philanthropic efforts before - people who may not know how to be part of the solution when they only have $5, $10, $15 do give. We want to empower these individuals, as well as upstart non-profits, social entrepreneurs and anyone else who wants to try and change the world. So our market is really twofold - creating a one stop marketplace for people to engage in philanthropy, and creating a place that gives access to capital to organizations that want to make a positive social impact.
I am going to keep this really simple. To understand the basics of what Givability will do, look at DonorsChoose.org, GlobalGiving.org and GiveForward.org. Givability will be a different marketplace in many ways, but with the same goals of helping create change in the world. I like clean and simple with soft colors - greens and blues are my favorites, but I want to see what great designers can come up with without too many restrictions. I will provide feedback as soon as designs appear, so hopefully you will get an idea of what I like and what I don't.
