1. Who we are and our target audience:
AiNIN is a worldwide and multidiscipline community of site-specific artists who are committed to ‘art in nature’ and ‘art in everyday environments’
We include: visual arts, sculpture, installation, land-art, performance, music, writing, video, sound and various other forms of art.
We believe that ‘art in nature’ implies respecting nature, not using or abusing it for the sake of art.
Our definition of ‘nature’ includes both urban, natural landscapes, city park environments, suburban, post industrial site, as much as the common perception of nature being untouched natural landscapes, rural areas or nature reserves.
Our definition of ‘site-specific’ artists, creating an art practice that is inspired by and responds to its site, revealing and expresses the artist’s relationship with that place, the environment, reflecting on its history, culture and community.
We feel that ‘art in everyday environments’ is a positive way to connect and engage with a wider population who have been disinterested in the traditional ‘object oriented’ presentation of art in museums, galleries and public spaces. We aim to increased community access, exposure to, expand consciousness of and involvement in art.
AiNIN operates through the sharing of information and creating a platform of encounter for artists. We circulate news about international opportunities and events, creating connections with each other. And AiNIN members initiate ‘art in nature symposiums/event’ within various international communities.
