Hello, my name is T.J. & I'd like to thank you for engaging in this specific logo design contest for my tour guide company - Infinite Oregon Tours!
NOTE - VERY IMPORTANT! - The idea described below is just ONE idea and I am very much open to other ideas that incorporate some or even just one of these images/themes/geographical elements. I realize that simple is often better for logos and what I'm asking is a lot and may be very "busy". I do like lots of color as Oregon is a very colorful, verdant, vibrant, lush and stunningly beautiful place. Many of my competitors already use the State of Oregon outline in their logo somewhere so I'm not 100% committed to that but would like to see some examples of a logo that do include it so I can decide if it works. I often like logos in oval or circle shapes (some of the lettering or imagery can extend beyond the circle if needed). Feel free to be very creative within these suggestions (below). I would also like to see a very simple stylized version of the logo as well that would be easily placed on a hat/shirt/side of a van/etc... maybe with just Mt. Hood and some forest & a waterfall? Maybe one with just Mt. Hood?
HERE'S MY IDEA: I have a vision of a scenic setting (perhaps located within the outline of the State of Oregon...or maybe incorporating the outline of Oregon into the design somewhere) somewhat resembling the Columbia River Gorge, and I definitely want a stylized but still unmistakably recognizable image of Mt. Hood, Oregon (a snow capped volcano and Oregon's highest mountain)... with perhaps a river/waterfall flowing out of the bottom (maybe from a vanishing point opening up towards the viewer?). If we can incorporate a waterfall in there somewhat resembling Multnomah Falls that would be great as well (doesn't have to look exactly like Multnomah, but just for reference sake, Multnomah does have an iconic 2-tiered falls with a bridge (The Benson Bridge) between the two - see photos). It is a very famous waterfall in Oregon and we have over 2.5 million visitors who come every year to see it. I envision a sun behind the mountain with stylized rays coming out (in almost "stained-glass" style blocky segments - Oranges/Yellows/Reds/Purples maybe). Since the name of our company is "Infinite Oregon Tours" it may be cool to incorporate an "infinity" symbol in there somewhere (perhaps in the wording or kind of hidden in the scenic setting somewhere) however this is not crucial if it doesn't fit in well. The Douglas Fir tree is our State Tree and is very iconic to Oregon as well (it's even on our license plates).
In order of importance to include in the logo it ranks like this:
1) Mt. Hood
2) Waterfall flowing into river (perhaps pouring off of Mt. Hood)
3) Sun & sunset
4) Columbia River Gorge & cliffs (volcanic basalt as the featured type of rock with forest/Douglas Fir tree(s))
5) Coastal ideas or themes such as a wave, gray whale, sea lion, lighthouse, Haystack Rock (see image), though I realize this may make it become very cluttered.
Basically the sky is the limit and I have included some photographs for references to these iconic places that we visit on our tours and also some links to other styles of artwork (or other logos) that I like and would please like you to consider during your artistic endeavors. Thank you so much for your help and I am exceedingly excited to see what you all come up with! I think this will be a fun and highly creative process!
I have included some links below (you may need to cut and paste them into your brower or search engine) to other logos, artists or ideas that resonate with me and may potentially be in the same vein as my final logo. Hopefully these help with subtle stylistic guidance and prove to be useful suggestions. Please make sure and take time to specifically look at the links of the images of Mt. Hood (as seen from the city of Portland) and make sure to pay special attention to her contours and profile...she's such a beauty! Once again, I'm excited to see YOUR individual creative interpretation of these suggestions. Thanks! ;-)
LINK #1 - I love this local professional skiers style of art and "stained-glass" feel. https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1…80&bih=578
LINK #2 - I like the mountain/forest/sun ray theme in this logo and the circle and contours of the lettering.
LINK #3 - Here is a stylized image of Mt. Hood (scroll down slightly from the top - mountain image on right)
LINK #4 - I like the colors used in the sunset and this looks like a whimsical version of Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gorge and the Columbia River.
LINK #5 - Here is an Oregon Brewfest logo that I like.
LINK #6 - Here is a link to an image of the outline of the State of Oregon with a similar idea of how I'd like the "stained-glass" sunset rays to look (with alternating shades of orange/yellow/purple or red maybe?)
LINK #7 - Here's a link just to the outline of the State of Oregon so you can be familiar with the shape of the state in case you're not familiar with it.
LINK #8 - Here is a very iconic image of what Mt. Hood looks like from Portland. I'd like Mt. Hood to be depicted from this particular angle/profile please.
LINK #9 - View of Mt. Hood from downtown Portland, Oregon.
LINK #10 - Columbia River Gorge!!! (NEW ADDITION TO FIRST BRIEF) Please take this into consideration.
