Fairfax County Taxpayers Alliance (FCTA) is a non-profit volunteer organization that keeps an eye on spending and taxes in Fairfax County and the State of VA. We've been around for over 50 years. Volunteers spend a lot of time analyzing state and local budgets to find Government waste and inform the electorate on where there money is going. We focus on local Fairfax County and Virginia State budgets.
I just joined the group as one of the youngest members. They have a TON of great information on their website but haven't done a good job getting their info into the right folks hands. So I have offered to help them revamp their logo and their website to bring it up to date.
Their current website and logo are here:
http://www.fcta.org
The new website which is almost done is here:
http://sites.google.com/a/fcta.org/…home-page/
You can see the difference between the old website (information is overwhelming and hard to find) and the new website (information is less overwhelming and easier to find).
1) Fiscally Conservative Fairfax County Taxpayers
2) Fiscally Conservative Virginia Taxpayers
The target audience are folks that are typically well read on political issues and have an interest and passion for reforming the government. They are patriotic, independent, and typically would prefer less government over more government. In general, they think the government is too big and too inefficient and don't want their money wasted on inefficient government programs.
The logo must communicate an independent and patriotic spirit that puts the rights of people first over government intrusion.
The current logo of a minuteman was meant to represent that because they were fighting about unjust taxation, but it needs to be updated. You can see wikipedia for a definition of the minutemen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minutemen
You are free to use the idea of the Minuteman in the logo, or try something totally different. You can use the whole name "Fairfax County Taxpayers Alliance" or the abbreviation "FCTA"
I like patriotic logos. An example is the one used here:
http://www.teapartypatriots.org/
It seems to both have a historical feel to it, but yet modern also and incorporates the American flag.
Other possible ideas might be to incorporate something Fairfax County or Virginia related in the logo. It's not necessary, but just an idea.
We have a few slogans which you are welcome to incorporate into the design if you like, or they can be added later.
"Watchdog of the Taxpayer's Dollar Since 1956"
"Mission: Influence elected officials to end excessive spending, borrowing, and taxes."
"Best Budget Analysis of Fairfax County and Virginia"
"Cut Taxes"
- No Clipart or stock photo in the design please.
The end logo should be provided in both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop formats.
