Design a Logo for a New Craft Brewery

"Lua" or "Lua Brewing"

Brew beer. Our target audience is everyone.

We want somewhat fun colors.

UPDATE: We like the idea of having a pictorial aspect to the logo, whether a standalone picture/drawing as a logo or together with "Lua" or "Lua Brewing." We like pure text marks, but would like a pictorial mark to use as well. For an example of what we mean by pictorial, see the Side Project Brewing url below.

GOAL: We are looking to develop a logo which clearly shows the warmth and creative environment of our brewery. We want to appear exciting and vibrant, but still sophisticated and aspirational.

STYLE:

• simple/somewhat minimalist/not too busy
• not too clean, sterile, or modern

We are open to all or a combination of:
-Handmade/handcrafted
-Retro/Vintage
-Fun/Quirky
-Minimalist

***We prefer no emblem logos or any logos encased in a circle.*** We tend not to like abstract or geometric logos. We want to make sure our logo says "brewery." Some of the initial sketches we received from past designer proposals tended toward coffee shop/vegan restaurant/pastels. We want to avoid this and be more fun/colorful/brewery, while maintaining a sense of simplicity and "classic." We would also like to avoid brewing raw materials (hops, wheat, etc.) and anything that is Hawaiian looking.

UPDATE: Since we've been asked a bunch, "Lua" is our dog's name, but we are not necessarily naming the brewery after her. We just like the sound/feel of "Lua Brewing" and that it is slightly more feminine in a male dominated industry. We do NOT want our logo to incorporate a dog. Again, we're not really naming the brewery after our dog.

We have attached an architectural rendering of our space. The mural currently included was quickly selected by our architect to show the possibility in the space. We do NOT like the mural on the wall. Please do not draw upon that mural for inspiration.

MORE INSPIRATION
We really like the light bulb logo for Side Project Brewing. It can be seen on the bottle at the url below. Side Project's light bulb logo is very well known, so we do not want our logo to be a light bulb or anything similar. This is for inspiration only. We like that light bulb logo for two main reasons. First, it has a rustic, handdrawn/sketchy/whimsical feel to it that is very appealing to us, yet it is still somewhat clean. Second, the whimsical light bulb invokes the idea of creativity and aspirations and inventiveness because of Thomas Edison inventing the light bulb and also the phrase that a "light bulb went on" when someone has a good idea. We want a whimsical logo that captures that sense of creativity and adventure and inventiveness. But again, Side Project is known for having a light bulb as their logo, so we can't have a light bulb. Do you have any other ideas on what might work to invoke those senses? If so, we'd love to see it in your design.

We are currently looking for only a logo, but more importantly are looking for a designer with whom we can have a long term relationship. Once we have a designer on our team, we will want help designing a full brand and culture including fonts, a website, beer labels, tshirts, merchandise, menus, etc. We strongly value collaboration and allowing people to flex their individual creative talent.

We want our branding to appeal to a wide audience, but we also believe it is our job to tell/show people what they like.
