We were originally founded in 1946 as an oil and gas producer. At the core, we are oil and gas "roughnecks". Roughnecks are blue-collar workers who are rough around the edges but known as some of the hardest working folks you'll ever know. Over the years, the business has increasingly become more focused on more professional areas such as public equity investing. You can find our CEO in the oil field getting his hands dirty, as well as sitting down to dinner with Wall Street executives. We are envisioning a logo that encapsulates this story. For example, a full body graphic of a man that looks like he’s been working an oil well (overalls, trench boots, gloves, oil on face, wrench in hand, etc.) At the same time, we need to capture the story of the transformation from blue-collar to white-collar. This man needs to show signs of professionalism. Maybe that is a briefcase in one hand, shirt, and tie under the overalls, proper hair, cufflinks, etc. We will also want to add personal touches that help tell the story. For example, our original founder always tucked one pant leg into his boot. We’d also like to have Smoky Hill Capital (or SHC) placed somewhere for representation. The man should be in his 40s-50s, tough but gentle, dirty but clean, relentless but soft-hearted. The logo should look professional enough to put on a business card, but also personal. If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to contact me.
