Updated-- we've uploaded many additional logos that speak to us to give further direction around the designs we connect with. I love the Honey Vector and Neon below- not only because they are hip and trendy, but because they tie the logo to the name of the company. With that said, thinking outside of the box for Legal- so no gavels, scales of justice, suits, briefcase, owls, books, etc. Most of the previous submissions felt stuffy and almost too professional (giving us insurance company vibes?)... and we definitely want to be seen as sleek, chic, and tech-savvy.
We are the Legal Department within a large financial services corporation. We've struggled over the last few years with being seen as 'red tape'--and really worked to become a strategic thought partner with the groups we work with. So, I think we're wanting to come up with something that says, "Hey, you want to do all kinds of crazy stuff because you're hip and digital and trendy and we're not here to be a wet blanket--we want to help you be defensible and sound, while truly understanding where you want to go and helping you find creative solutions to get there. Using the word "Legal" in the logo is totally optional, we see many groups that use just a design or symbol to represent their group. Just keep in mind the design will be featured on t-shirts, stickers, tumblers, etc. so it will need to be something people will feel cool & confident wearing around.
