Cacao on Caves
A dynamic, creative, chocolate-obsessed duo are moving from law, medical science and architecture into the manufacture of single-origin, "bean to bar", chocolate in a premium wine-growing and artisanal food tourism area.
We would like our logo and icon to convey that we are making the highest quality chocolate from roasting the raw bean to the completed bar using pure natural ingredients, instead of simply remelting couverture chocolate (as chocolatiers, and other local competitors, do.) We are chocolate makers producing chocolate from scratch.
The factory, retail outlet and cafe is set in Yallingup, a rural setting amongst Eucalyptus trees and a vineyard. It is on a meandering tourist route called Caves Road (there are numerous caves underground in this area but we do not want to emphasize this part). It is also in the vicinity of world renowned surfing beaches.
We want the logo and icon to suggest pleasure above all things: but a healthy, rather than a guilty, pleasure.
It needs to convey a sensual experience of the highest possible quality.
The logo and icon must suggest a pure, all-natural, unadulterated product which most importantly, blows away the taste-buds AND YET is also health-enhancing.
We are targeting the ultimate consumer audience - that is, chocolate eaters of all ages.
This is a boutique, exclusive, hand-numbered, single-origin product, and we principally want it to appeal to women between the ages of 20 - 50 with high disposable income, as a treat for themselves or their friends and families.
There will be specific products designed for children, but the overall image is to be adult, upmarket and "tasteful", that is, not gaudy.
It is certainly an upmarket, premium product, but the logo must not look so sophisticated that it appears like a mass-market attempt to look posh. We want it to be fun and quirky and stylish without being childish.
Our target audience will also include people looking for small gifts or food tourism "souvenirs" of a famous wine and food region of Australia.
Whether local people trying out a new product or international tourists, they are people who classify themselves as "foodies" and pride themselves on enjoying fine food, enjoying new food experiences and being in touch with the latest food trends.
We would like to see a very simple logo and icon that would be easily recognisable for print (packaging as well as editorial, advertising, brochures, marketing collateral and roadside signage) and electronic usage, such as our website, or projected images.
This simple symbol or icon is importantly needed to imprint within the molds of our hand-made, hand-numbered chocolate bars.
It may also form an element of interior and exterior design on our purpose-built building.
Our packaging is probably going to be brown or matte black craft paper boxes.
Yallingup, the locality of the business, should also be used in the logo. We would like to see more emphasis on "Cacao" and less for "on Caves".
We like the colour combination to be no more than 3 colours, preferably chocolate brown, black and Tiffany's blue, but will keep an open mind on other combinations that reflect chocolate.
The logo could include the name ("Cacao on Caves") in a stylised for eg. in a square as in a piece of chocolate, or stamped on an angle.
Would be happy to look at a logo that either included a cacao bean in realistic or abstracted form. Both of these requirements are not essential.
Attached are some example files of brands that we like but we have no set ideas. Happy to see completely different concepts also.
No clip art or stock images please.
