Our goal is to bring language learners from all over the world together in one place, so that we can learn from each other.
We will attempt this by building a simple website in which participants are invited to translate and correct sentences for each other. A point system will try to regulate the process.
Our ambition is to become something along the lines of a 'Wikipedia for translations', with speedy and quality translations for everyone.
You can find a (very) rough prototype of the website on http://www.translapolis.org/alpha
UPDATE : to be clear, we need a logo that does not necessarily include the name of the website.
UPDATE2 : we are more looking for a stylish drawing than a corporate logo
SUGGESTION : If you want to play it safe and still have a very good chance of winning : take the existing header, remove the city and replace it with falling leaves in black.
We are primarily targetting language learners who are looking for a new, simple tool to help them in their studies.
However, the website could be useful for anyone who is looking for translations/corrections, not only language learners.
Until now, we have been working under code name 'Translapolis'
Translapolis is derived from the words 'translation' + 'polis'. The latter is ancient Greek, meaning 'city'.
Although 'translation city' describes us well as a haven for language learners, we have been looking for a more simple and less complicated name. We have now decided on using the name 'Translets'.
***Translets are small pieces of text that anyone can translate (or correct). ***
What do we need?
Please take a look at the included attachment (header-citytheme). Until now, the theme of the website was the 'city' and our prototype header reflects that.
The *minimum* we need is a drawing / logo that replaces the drawing of a city skyline in our header. It can be replaced with anything, but obviously it has to represent what we stand for as good as possible. We suggest that the designer starts from the concept of a 'translet', and goes from there.
We would like it to be stylish, but sufficiently simple to not distract from the website (see prototype website).
The designer is free to take a shot at redesigning the whole of the header as well, as long as its dimensions are preserved (around 975px width).
Thank you and good luck!
