MaxBP
Our whole company is built around the theme of “Creating Great Hitters”
We provide a short menu of products specifically designed to maximize the ratio of skill improvement vs. time and money spent. Our products are affordable and practical yet still produce outstanding results.
MaxBP stands for Maximum Batting Practice. The flagship product is the whiffleball pitching machine….you can see something similar here- http://www.sandlotslugger.com.
DO NOT TAKE ANY INSPIRATION FROM THE SANDLOT SLUGGER WEBSITE. We are going for a whole different feel. We just want you to see a product similar to our main offering.
The logo will be used not only on our website, stickers on products we sell, banner ads at little league fields, on the sides of RV’s, etc. We may also produce hats, shirts, and etc.
If the MaxBP logo ends up being conducive to the creation of a mascot, we have ideas for how to use one. This does not mean your logo ideas need to be mascot-friendly… just something we’re throwing out there.
Our approach is to preach sound fundamentals, coupled with massive repetition in order to achieve excellence. And we show that this can be done without a ton of space or money.
The MaxBP pitching machine doesn’t require a lot of space, costs less than $400 and has the added benefit of throwing balls that are a fraction of the size of real baseballs. Harder task mastered = Better hitter.
In the broadest sense, it’s anyone who wants to improve at hitting, but doesn’t have a massive backyard, or thousands of dollars to devote to it.
(note: “real” pitching machines can cost upwards of $1000-2000, require a full batting cage to surround them ($1000) and require at least 1500 square feet of space. )
In terms of skill/age level, we’re considering 2010 to be a year of massive data gathering. We expect the market to begin to teach us just who this is the perfect fit for. But going in, we know that the prime contenders are:
1. Little League parents, purchasing for their children
2. High School kids and/or their parents purchasing to help them make the team or to earn a scholarship
3. Softball players at these same levels
4. Adult males who continue to play in competitive leagues (age 18-50ish) (you might be surprised how many of these there are)
5. Coaches (Little League, HS, College)
6. Retail Outlets
Look at this more as a “potential themes/ideas” section
We like baseball-related colors…green, infield dirt-brown, white, woodbat tan, etc.
The idea of incorporating a swinging batter is certainly plausible. If so, his swing needs to be mechanically correct.
This site has stop-action of the best hitters in the game at every stage of their swing:

Also, here are a number of pictures of consensus best hitter in the majors right now (Albert Pujols):

Including a swinging player is not at all a requirement, but may be just the thing.
The main thing is the image should be confident, fun, powerful and dynamic.
We are on a tight timeline, so there is a chance that if we see just what we’re looking for early on, we could end the contest early.
There is the possibility of substantial future work. We are at the outset of a company launch that is expected to grow exponentially over the next few years.
We’ll be checking in regularly, so feel free to ask questions and we’ll do our best to provide prompt feedback on what we like.
THANKS!
