Logo needed for embedded software development company

We're a software development company that specializes in embedded software. We code the stuff that runs inside set top boxes, custom networking devices, and other smart electronic devices that you hopefully can just take for granted that they work. Our specialty is getting software to run fast and using special hardware features in these devices in clever and efficient ways. This is really fun stuff for us. Most of the other guys that work in this area have stodgy and bland corporate presences. That's not us at all. We're programmers and not artists so we need help showing it.

Our target customers are technical managers and software, hardware, or system architects in mid to large size companies. These aren't suit-and-tie people but are certainly professional in their interactions with contract firms like ours.

I'm looking for a logo that is professional and conveys the pride, fun, and energy that we apply to our work. We're named after the brainiest dinosaur, the Troodon, so hopefully the logo can be along that theme. Wikipedia has Troodon info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troodon. I find the Troodon picture on Wikipedia to be a little ugly, but if the dinosaur is in the logo, it probably can be stylized in a nice way. My customers definitely are not paleontologists. :)

Of course, given the creativity of people on this site, I'd hate to require that a dinosaur be part of the logo, but it seems like some kind of association should be there given our company's name.

Also, I'd like the logo to be simple enough that it is theoretically possible to embroider it on shirts or hats if we ever choose to do that. We're new, so we don't have any pre-existing styles that need to constrain the design.

Please, no Jurassic Park style knockoffs or any styles that give the impression that we make kids toys. No stock images or clip art.

I'll need print and web versions of the logo in the end.
