The CityRentals team consist of a relaxed and fun group with the same goals, drives and ambitions. Having been involved in the marketing and web development sector for some time and being involved in many web projects we see value in a project such as the CityRentals project.
CityRentals is a project which aims to put apartment and house owners offering a furnished place to rent together with someone looking for a place to stay. Our target audience is both the vacation renter looking to rent fully furnished apartments offering Internet service, cable TV, telephone and all the amenities that you'd have as though you were in your own home. The second being the corporate renter looking for short term furnished rentals. The main difference between the two will be that one (the vacation renter) will typically be looking for a few weeks to a maximum of a monthly stay whereas the corporate renter will be generally looking for slightly longer stays (a few months at a time). Initially we're also going to be focusing on people that are looking for vacations or corporate rentals in big cities.
We're really looking for a logo to represent our brand that will consist of type as well as a iconic symbol to help represent the brand both initially and as it matures.
What we're looking for is to have an icon that is separate from the text so that the text can be used independently of the icon and visa versa. The icon should look good both in really small dimensions as well as larger proportions thus it should be relatively simple so it can scale well. It should look good in black and white as well as in a color version. The main idea we have it so try to incorporate a "key" into the icon portion of the logo. Alternatively concepts that stand out as resembling something that a company catering to offering listings of city rentals and connecting renters with apartment and home owners will be looked at fondly.
Things to consider:
1. The logo should look good in both portrait and landscaped mode & be adjustable by allowing us to move the iconic component of the logo
2. Use colors that instill confidence and allow the logo to show very clear and vibrantly on a white or light gray background.
3. An icon that's associated with the logo that scales well from small to large will be the most ideal for us as well as we'd like to use the logo on the site, print, ads, etc...
4. Text in logo should be lower case.
