We will shortly be launching our website Slimbook.co.za to the South African market, and we are looking for a logo to reflect the spirit of the brand.
The site is a weight management site and will mostly be used for losing weight. (Other possible uses are for maintaining or gaining weight.) This is done through calorie counting. A registered user is given a calorie quota per day. This quota is calculated based on current weight, activity level, age and desired weight loss. Users log what they eat (making use of a food database) and can track their calorie intake that way. Users can also log the exercise they do, and can ‘earn’ additional calories through exercise.
The brand philosophy is sustainable weight loss through exercise and healthy eating. It does not offer any quick, easy or faddish solutions to weight loss. The idea is that sustainable weight loss can only be achieved by a change in lifestyle.
In addition to the tools provided for weight loss, there will be a strong focus on the creation of an online community to provide support and a place for people to hang out and chat about anything and everything. This will be done through the creation of forums and the functionality to create quite extensive user profiles.

The target audience is very broad. It will probably be predominantly female, but there will also be male users. The age range of users is also broad. The target audience will have interest in losing or maintaining weight and a healthy lifestyle.
The website is most effectively used by people with broadband access. In the South African context that is a relatively small and affluent part of society.
The brand name is slimbook (you can use upper or lower case – this is up to the designer) and this should appear in the logo.
The main focus of the name is ‘slim’. We might later extend the brand (e.g. slimsport, slimgear, slimrecipes etc) and would like to be able to be able to use the same basic idea for future logos.
The logo should be clean in design
Stay away from ‘girly’ designs
The logo should, if possible, reflect healthy living rather than a quick fix.
