Sideways is an event management and lifestyle consultancy business which brings unusual, exciting and entertaining experiences to people’s lives. It is about going beyond the every day and viewing ‘life from another angle’.
So discover a world around you that they may not be aware of, meet people who you may not ordinarily encounter and experience things that you’ve never tried before.
We intend to run a series of different events, all of which will incorporate ‘Sideways’ in their name. So for instance, Look Sideways, Play Sideways, Walk Sideways, Be Sideways.
The first event we are running is called Grow Sideways. Grow Sideways is about helping people rediscover the lost art of conversation. We bring together a group of strangers over dinner and encourage them to discuss their experiences and ideas with the help of a conversation menu which covers the important issues in life – love, work, family, hopes and regrets. We want to encourage people to have meaningful and thoughtful discussions in a fun environment.
Young professionals aged 25-35, university educated, with high disposable income, single/newly married, no/young children, renting/first home in the inner city. They are most likely to be broad-minded, well-travelled and have maybe lived interstate or overseas. They view themselves as influencers in their circle of friends, they want to be perceived as being ‘on the pulse’ with what’s cool and new, and they are always looking for new, interesting ways to spend their time.
Eventually the target market will expand beyond this group to:
Students aged 20-25. Low disposable income. Single/not married, renting with flatmates in the inner city. Possibly studying creative fields/the arts or will become young corporate professionals. They view themselves as influencers in their circle of friends, they want to be perceived as being ‘on the pulse’ with what’s cool and new, and looking for cheap, cool, non-mainstream things to do.
Young parents aged 35-45. Ex-young professionals, now with young children. High disposable income. Looking for opportunities to meet other parents in a cool environment where they can take their children, and maybe at the same time complete a chore/complete a home project (eg cook meals).
We want a typographical logo that incorporates the business name Sideways and the tagline ‘Life from another angle’ which may sometimes appear with the logo.
The word Sideways must be able to be used as an anchor for other words in order to create the name of the different events: eg Grow Sideways, Live Sideways, Look Sideways, Play Sideways, Walk Sideways, Be Sideways etc.
Optional: the letters forming the word ‘Ideas’ are incorporated into the word ‘Sideways’. It would be great if you could incorporate ‘Ideas’ into the type, but not if it makes the logo difficult to read or look jumbled (as it does when you spell it eg sIDEwAyS).
The typeface needs to be bold, punchy, funky and clean. There is no corporate colour scheme so we want the type to suit all kinds of bright colours. Check out the Animal Planet logo for the kind of look we like http://animal.discovery.com/
The logo will be used in our marketing materials: brochures, business cards, website, twitter background and will be used to drive the website design. We will use the typeface to make other printed material such as conversation menus for Grow Sideways to give a consistent corporate image.
We require the relevant print file and web file formats to use the logo for the above purposes. For instance:
Print file format - .ai (CMYK) & RGB .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
