I'm creating a short ebook/free report very quickly to offer as a "bonus product" for a full length book. The title of my report is "Practical People Skills" and the subtitle is "Simple Steps to Social Success".
The main book launches tomorrow, so I'll be picking a design very quickly in order to finish off the website.
Practical People Skills: Simple Steps to Social Success
I've create an absolute bare-bones mockup that just shows the title, subtitle, and author name. That is the essential info.
The audience is interested in success, largely self-employed, and excited about "thinking positively."
It's up to you whether or not to use graphics/textures/etc. "Clean" is definitely preferable to "cluttered," but if it looks polished, I'm happy.
A couple examples of covers I like:
- OptiNiche
- oDesk Insider
- The Book of New Israeli Food
- Eat, Pray, Love
- The World Is Flat
- Clean style
- If you show depth (optional; you can also do a completely flat cover), it should be very thin as the report will only be about 10 pages
- Quick turnaround
- Colors are up to you
- Overwhelming graphics or fonts
