Cover for a reproduction of a handwritten copy of an ancient philosophy text. The interior pages are here - http://smu.gs/1l0ulwm.
The book will be 5 inches by 8 inches. The text on the cover will be:
The Enchiridion of Epictetus
Copied by <Name>
Your life is too short and you have important things to do.
The first line starting with the "The Enchridion ..." should be in serif, Roman-style small capitals (what is normally in lower case letters are in upper case) "Your life is too short and you have important things to do." and "Copied by <Name>" will be in handwritten script by me.
Also desired is some cue or evidence that what is inside the book is handwritten text. One idea, as represented in the attached mockup, is a facsimile of a portion of the handwritten text stylized on the cover.
The cover will be matte. I have envisioned the background to be primarily white but am open to creative alternatives.
Some thematic elements I'd like to retain are:
-simple and spare
-hint of handwritten text inside
Some inspirations of cover ideas come from Penguin Great Idea Series. Every cover is very typographic centric. Some good examples are:

Update added 7/12/2015 - I am open to a predominantly dark design like here - http://www.blurb.com/b/5469837-the-…us-125-a-d.
