World Econic forum and Insead
The website of The Global Information Technology Report (GITR) presents the
content of the Report, as well as the results of the Networked Readiness
Index (NRI).
A joint publication of the World Economic Forum and INSEAD, the GITR gauges
the extent to which extent economies benefit from ICT advances for
sustained growth and development, featuring the NRI as the main
methodological framework. The NRI identifies the most relevant factors
enabling ICT readiness, providing relevant stakeholders with a tool with
which to benchmark their country’s performance over time and vis-à-vis
other economies.
The GITR remains the most comprehensive and respected international
assessment of the preparedness of economies to leverage the networked
economy, and has become over time a highly respected platform for
private-public dialogue on best policies and actions to further ICT
readiness.
Under the general theme of sustainability, the 2009–10 edition features the
latest rankings of the NRI, together with several essays dealing with
different issues related to sustainability. The Report also includes
detailed profiles for the 133 economies covered along with data tables for
each indicator used in the computation of the NRI.
Written in a nontechnical language, the GITR appeals to a large audience
made of policymakers, business leaders, academics and different
organizations of civil society.
Very broad audience: policy-makers, business executives, academia, researchers, international organizations, think tanks. Visitors are from all over the world, including from countries where internet access generally speaking remains slow and the bandwidth limited.
High usability, loading speed, and browser compatibility are key aspects of the future website to accommodate all audiences, some of them are not necessarily tech-savvy and all speeds. In addition, it must also display well with small resolutions (1024x768). Finally, the content area (i.e. excluding the navigation area and all the graphical wrapping’) must be maximized in order to minimize scrolling when displaying charts and tables.
