Desired Color Scheme: Based on the logo you choose to work with Desired Style: 2.0, modern, unique Accepted File Formats: layered psd We recently held a contest for a new logo for our old joke site: johnnysjokes.com Our goal with this logo was to find something that wasn't cliche and something that would make us stand out from the rest. We need a site to match this! We need something modern, clean, and unique. This site will allow people to browse jokes by topic (i.e., blonde jokes, dirty jokes, etc.) or by style (story, one-liners, yo-mama, etc.) We will use alot of the 2.0 ideas such as letting people rate jokes (1-5) and letting them tag jokes as well! We need a homepage design for this site. If you look at the joke sites out there; they are all awful. The content on the home page is bad. We want you to be creative with this layout. Think about your favorite websites and what you like about them. The navigation will be, home, jokes by topic, jokes by style, funniest jokes, and submit a joke Think SEO. We will want to use text as often as possible (to include in the nav) rather than graphical buttons. As far as content that we want on the front page: we will include a brief summary about our site and what it offers members. We will have a place where members can subscribe to an rss feed. We would like to see an excerpt of the joke of the day and how it is rated (1-5) we would like a search for a joke (search by style drop down, search by topi drop down, and free-text textbox) form possibly in the sidebar We will need ad banner space at the top and left of the page. There will not be a member login at this point in time. The rest of the page is up to you. you can always throw a random joke up there if you'd like. Here is the twist to this contest. For our logo contest we couldn't decide between two logos; so we picked them both. We've created enough websites to know that sometimes you don't see the full picture until you see a logo combined with the website. Since this wasn't a corporate identity and will only be used on a website; seeing them together is very important. The logos we have chosen are displayed below. You, the designer, get to choose which logo you would like to work with. Does the quill logo inspire you more? go for that. Does the laugh-meter inspire you more? choose that one. Like them both, make two designs if you want. We don't have a preference of one over the other, it will be the whole package that decides the logo we choose. One thing we would like you to do though, which ever logo you choose, try to make a theme out of it in the template. We want the design and logo to be integrated seamlessly. For example you could use the meter for rating the jokes and 1-5 feathers, etc. I'm sure there are a ton of things you could do. Be creative! If you have any questions, please ask. We try to be really fast with feedback and have had numerous successful contests in the past. I'm sure this won't be any different. Here are the logos: and We will set this at 10 days but would like to reserve the right to end the contest early if we see something we LOVE. I don't want to waste anyone's time if there is something we know we want.
