Layne Flack, who has won a stunning 6 world series of poker bracelets since he broke into the poker scene, is one of the most feared players to ever play the game. He's also the funniest guy in poker. He needs a website.
Layne Flack!
When Layne asked my advice on how to get a website up, I told him I'd help. I couldn't really think of a better way to get some quality concepts for the website than 99Designs. This really is a great project, too... Layne has led a very rich and dramatic life, and the cameras and media have been following him for years, so there is a lot of good content like photos to possibly incorporate. This is for his official personal website which will have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of visitors, every year. This is an opportunity to show off your design skills to countless people and help a really great poker player and really great guy establish an impressive web presence.
Sitemap is something as follows (fee free to experiment as this isn't set in stone) :
- Blog / Read Layne's Blog
- Bio / Who is Layne Flack?
- Media / Photos, Interviews, Music Videos, and much more!
- Links / Layne's favorite poker sites
- Contact / Tell Layne what's on your mind
- Play! / Play poker online with Layne Flack... he's going to lose his money to somebody, so it might as well be you.
All I'm looking for is a mock-up. You don't need to be able to code it. I'd like to see some high quality mock-ups that are 2.0ish and doesn't look like every other poker player website out there.
I really am approaching this from a competely blank slate. At the end of the contest I'll be showing the mock-ups to Layne and he'll be choosing one, so my guess is as good as yours.
Something that uses mostly cardplayer.com images would be preferred, as Layne has worked something out with them to be able to use those in particular... however, pretty much any image you can find doing a google search, we'd be able to get permission for, so don't worry too much about that.
Also, if you are submitting based on a pre-made template or flash designs that we'd have to pay additional money for, please make that clear in your submission.
I can tell you that I personally like subtlety... I don't like personal sites that are all about self promotion or are cheesy.
The back to back Fs as a logo that is currently on layneflack.com was designed by the original registrant of the domain name... it's not something that we have any attachment to, but it's nice because Layne's nickname in poker is "Back to Back" as he has a history of winning back-to-back championships. And the back to back "F"s are a subtle little reference to that.
